The Bristol Merlin

Smithsonian Magazine has published an account of finding a 13th century manuscript that has some apparently new information on Merlin, King Arthur’s magician.

The article also tells a bit of the story of the evolving Arthurian legends.

It’s cool. As readers know, I’m slightly nutty about King Arthur, so this is cool (link to one of my Arthurian videos)

Stamp from Great Britain, Merlin looking over Arthur's shoulder.

The most fun I got out of the article is the history of this manuscript, which has been sitting on a shelf in the Bristol Library since 1628.

Sitting on a library shelf 150 years longer than my country has existed. We’d only had British colonists here for 24 years! Ah well.
