I got mail today. A presentation pack of the 2023 Isle of Man Birds of Prey issue.

I love raptors, and these are glorious portraits of some great British birds. There’s a little info on the birds in the pack.

It’s also the 50th anniversary of the Isle of Man post, and they sent a celebratory booklet along, featuring 50 years of photos from their archives.

The Isle of Man is located between Great Britain and Ireland.
The Isle has an unusual status. It is Crown Dependency, and it’s head of state is the British monarch. However it is not part of the United Kingdom, has never been part of the European Union, or the Commonwealth, and has always been “devolved” in that it has its own legislature, with a head of government. The legislature claims to have begun in 978, but independent historians disagree it is quite that old.
The UK is responsible for defense and most external relations, though there are attempts to increase the Isle’s international profile.
Manx citizens are automatically British citizens, and can get either a Manx or British passport.
